This is considered a highly useful process! The objective of this ongoing project is to quantify how well the products can be manufactured using the available process and process control, and how well products can fit within the specification limits. For this purpose, the project is focusing on two directions:
internal manufacture of the product of interest. The goal is to find out if the specifications are achievable, or what kind of tune-up is necessary to be able to meet the specifications
external auditing. The goal is to audit the defense supplier plants on their performance in meeting the specifications with good repeatability.
